I picked up the Spring issue of V Magazine because I'm a big fan of Dakota Fanning, who was looking adorable beneath a Bridget Bardot-esqu coif. It took me a second to realize that the theme of the issue was the celebration of size, which appears to be making a comeback to spit heavy girls in the face of waif lovers like Karl Lagerfeld. I thoroughly enjoyed the issue and hope that the trend (see Mark Fast) of using curvier ladies in shows and editorials is long lasting. I hope it transcends trend. The styling is totally on point and will definitely inspire an upcoming project (coming soon), and was done by Mel Ottenberg. Terry Richardson shot this editorial and it looks awesome. That's two points Terry.
My boyfriend thinksCrystal Renn is the hottest thing ever (because she's obviously incredible looking! Such a babe!) So this one's for Clark...
Jacquelyn Jablonski looks pretty good too!

StyleLikeU!
I have been obsessed with this website since its outset and everyone Elisa posts is fascinating in their own right. But every once in a while she posts someone who I feel I should get to know (I've contacted several people who stand out on her site directly, even if just to send a personal compliment). This dude is DEFINITELY one of them.
“People are very insecure as far as fashion is concerned. It’s just something they do to look good and not be criticized, so a quick answer for them is to buy for the brand. I am my own brand.” Shail Upadhya

Terry Richardson x Jersey Shore
Dear Terry Richardson,
This is the first thing that I've actually liked by you in a long time Terry.
I was hoping that it was for PURPLE as opposed to Interview, as it seems that you and Olivier could deal with a bit more humor, but I'll look forward to gaining some insight into what sort of conversation the five of you were able to maintain. Just sayin', I way prefer Pauly D's crown of thorns to Lindsay Lohan's (see PURPLE Mag #13).
Cheers!

Barb Wire
Yesterday on the street I found a box full of phenomenal films. All on VHS. As the hoarder in me reached the grab a few choice flicks, the more reasonable me remembered that the VHS is an obsolete technology and there is NO reason for to come anywhere near my apartment. I don't even remember the last time I saw a VHS player. HOWEVAH, there was one gem in that box that inspired an immediate purchase on Amazon.com: The 1996 Pamela Anderson-Lee (at the time) classic BARB WIRE.
This "film" will be screening on 6th st. in the near future, but for now, here are some epic stills...

Looking good Pammy. Although I think enough time has passed that it's safe to say that the barbwire arm tattoo was a pretty, pretty, pretty big mistake.

(More) Music For Your Ears (and eyes)
Really love this video. The Knife have really trippy videos and, obviously, their music is dope. Definitely become a fan if you aren't one already. Since being turned on to this video (*thanks Dani*) I have not been able to stop thinking about it. It didn't take much research to realize that the reason this video has been haunting me for the last few days, aside from the catchy tune, is because Johan Renck is the mastermind behind it.
Having worked with the likes of Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and Beyonce, Renck is an obvious pro. Love this ad he directed for Mathew Williamson for H&M last year! (Yes, I love it. Yes I am commanding you to also):
Billy Childish (along with Thee Headcoats, Thee Milkshakes and the rest of the bands that he fronts) is an incredibly prolific musician. As it turns out he's a prolific author and artist and a general mad man. I knew very little about him beyond his music, but my admiration grows and it grows. Like a puppy. Or a weed.
This video includes hilarious interview footage, live performance, and a poetry reading...

The Del Monas:
The Buffs:
Speaking of being Jailbait ("She's Just 15"), I've been hearing really good things about JR's band Jailbait and they are getting some excellent press (Purple Magazine #13 Spring/Summer). Checked them out, and really enjoyed the lone song that is up on their MySpace! Having missed their most recent show at Sway last weekend, I'll be very much looking forward to catching them soon!

STYLE
Jeremy Scott showed in New York for the first time in ages, and I had a ticket. Unfortunately I was misinformed about the shows start time and showed up two hours late... Just my luck. So I'd been looking forward to checking out the flicks on Style.com and as anticipated, I was NOT disappointed. Scott is one of the most playful and unabashedly freaky designers, and usually his collections are FULL of color. This season was dominated by black. Perhaps it was the NYC influence, but I must say I loved it. It was unexpected and a little bit more serious than previous collections, but also managed to be full of the humor Jeremy Scott is so known for.
UNREAL. That's a belt buckle like-whoa.
I have many fashion weaknesses. I have a soft spot for vintage nighties, stripes, Harley Davidson tees, shoes of all shapes and comfort levels, Betsey Johnson, sunglasses, bathing suits and anything hooded (executioner and white supremacy related hoods excluded). But there is a special place in my heart for boob tops. Not cleavage baring, not even curve hugging, just a good garment that highlights the headlights in a so-obvious-it's-subtle sort of way. The JPG reference is so good it's sick. The yellow jacket is giving me a terminal case of fashion anxiety. The shooting range dress is so Avengers? Or maybe it's the 70's go-go girl hair!
70's go-go girl, super-heros??
Don't be surprised if you see me in the street head to toe bedazzled...
Jeremy Scott: I'd pray at any altar you're dressin'!
