Alexander McQueen Presentation In Paris Continued

Here is the rest of the presentation...

The collection was heavily influenced by 17th century art, and was very religious, featuring depictions of saints and stained glass jewelry.  McQueen's genius has solidified him as a fashion saint.

Alexander McQueen Presentation In Paris

You may know that to honor and respect the memory of Lee McQueen and to gracefully handle his passing at the outset of the international fashion weeks, the Alexander McQueen house has scheduled a two day very exclusive presentation in Paris.  There have been a couple of images that have been released (no photography was allowed during the presentations but if you have access, photos are available on WWDs website.)

Mcqueen was such a genius it's difficult to accept that he is gone and that this will be the last collection that he touched personally, but based on this heartbreakingly beautiful and romantic dress I can confidently say that his legacy will live on through this heavenly collection.

Today I Can't Stop Thinking About...

Mark Fast and monochromatic looks.

I am a big admirer of young Canadian designer Mark Fast.  Since his show last September--You know, the one embroiled in controversy over using 3 plus size models which caused his stylist to quit-- I have been a big fan.  Those tight, practically fish-net, knit dresses were SO Serena Van Der Woodsen-- in a GOOD way!!  They are just so different than the sheer volume we've gotten used to seeing on the runway!  They are so back to basics sexy, form hugging and strategically shredded, that it's completely unexpected.

Needless to say I was not disappointed in the least with his Fall ready-to-wear show, and as much as I was loving his re-invention of the body-con dress, what really stuck with me is the color!

This show has be completely obsessed with wearing one color head to toe...and not my usual black!

Fashion Anxiety

I'm dying for these Issey Miyake / Converse All Star Pants that young Tavi had the pleasure of seeing in person and photographing so the rest of us could pine and palpitate over them.  If I had these pants I would wear them everyday, the way I wear my white-leather-cons everyday.  If you really love me or ever did you will find a way to make these mine...

Terry Richardson Addendum

I picked up the Spring issue of V Magazine because I'm a big fan of Dakota Fanning, who was looking adorable beneath a Bridget Bardot-esqu coif.  It took me a second to realize that the theme of the issue was the celebration of size, which appears to be making a comeback to spit heavy girls in the face of waif lovers like Karl Lagerfeld.  I thoroughly enjoyed the issue and hope that the trend (see Mark Fast) of using curvier ladies in shows and editorials is long lasting.  I hope it transcends trend.  The styling is totally on point and will definitely inspire an upcoming project (coming soon), and was done by Mel Ottenberg. Terry Richardson shot this editorial and it looks awesome. That's two points Terry.

My boyfriend thinksCrystal Renn is the hottest thing ever (because she's obviously incredible looking! Such a babe!) So this one's for Clark...
Jacquelyn Jablonski looks pretty good too!

Raquel Zimmerman x Mario Sorrenti

This editorial is uh-mazing.  Raquel looks beautiful! The clothes look great! Cheers Mario Sorrenti!  In V Magazine.

StyleLikeU!

I have been obsessed with this website since its outset and everyone Elisa posts is fascinating in their own right.  But every once in a while she posts someone who I feel I should get to know (I've contacted several people who stand out on her site directly, even if just to send a personal compliment).  This dude is DEFINITELY one of them.

“People are very insecure as far as fashion is concerned. It’s just something they do to look good and not be criticized, so a quick answer for them is to buy for the brand. I am my own brand.” Shail Upadhya

Check out photos and a video interview with Shail at StyleLikeU!!

Dear Terry Richardson,

This is the first thing that I've actually liked by you in a long time Terry.

I was hoping that it was for PURPLE as opposed to Interview, as it seems that you and Olivier could deal with a bit more humor, but I'll look forward to gaining some insight into what sort of conversation the five of you were able to maintain.  Just sayin', I way prefer Pauly D's crown of thorns to Lindsay Lohan's (see PURPLE Mag #13).

Including these fools in fashion editorials (to a point) is hilarious.  The inclusion of leggings "designer" Lohan feels more like a tragedy.  There is nothing ironic left about Lindsay.  Least of all her sad state as a total wreck-fashion victim.  These Boys put the "iron" in "irony".

Cheers!
